Acorn Family History Services is a genealogy research business run by Julia Henderson who lives in Tonbridge, Kent; an area convenient for access to both London and the Kent and Sussex archives. Julia first started researching her own family line many years ago, and now has a tree stretching back hundreds of years with roots and branches reaching across to America, Australia and into Ireland and Scotland. After she studied for and achieved a distinction in the IHGS Higher Certificate in Genealogy her hobby became a profession and she now regularly helps others with their family history research. Julia has a law degree from Sheffield University, which comes in useful when looking at the sometimes complex legal documents you come across in family history, such as wills, title deeds and records of court cases.

You can be sure of quality work as Julia is a member of AGRA (the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives), which requires members to have proved their competence and achieve a high standard of expertise and professional conduct within genealogy. In addition members abide by AGRA's code of conduct.

Family history is more than the genealogical study of names, dates, places and family lines. It is about finding out more about our ancestors and trying to get to know them, looking at the places they lived, the churches where they worshipped, their memorials or gravestones, discovering details of their businesses, the lives they led and the sort of things they did. Each ancestor has a story to tell, from the humble labourer up to the large landowner, and part of family history is to discover these stories and record them. We are the product of our forebears; their history is our history.

Julia has a love of family history and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others.
